Paint Techniques?

To inspire you and provide more guidance, I have created an example painting that depicts the three techniques you can paint your pet in: Pop Art (rainbow colors with bold/black outline), Traditional (match your pet), or a mixture of BOTH (You would still want to select β€˜Pop Art’ at checkout so you get those prismatic colors alongside the neutrals if you want to do a Pop Art and Traditional combo).

This example painting has 3 depictions of the same dog (my late, chocolate poodle - Holly) using 3 different reference photos. The one on the right really captures her likeness because, well, that’s what painting something in a β€˜Traditional’ style will do. Whereas the other two paintings of Holly still capture her essence (maybe not her crooked teeth but you get it), while still having a creative flare AND being more forgiving to details. Matching color and texture perfectly in the β€˜Traditional’ category can be kind of tricky sometimes, where painting something with uncanny colors takes away some of the need for perfection and representation. Overall, your painting is going to look like your pet whether it’s yellow or brown or a little of both. Your awesome pre-sketch along with your instructor’s assistance will make sure of it!

That’s the main perk of our Paint Your Pet event, you get good β€˜bones’ of a painting with the pre-sketch of the image you submit, then you get the freedom to paint it however you like. I like to say our Paint Your Pet class is like a combination of hiring an artist for a pet commission and doing it yourself, making it the fool-proof way to get an outcome you are happy with!
